La Galette des Rois (6th January)

Last Friday, the secondary pupils taking French celebrated the Epiphany (6th January), when, according to the Bible,  the three kings visited baby Jesus.
In France, celebrating the Epiphany is a tradition which involves sharing  la Galette des Rois  (the "Kings’ Pie"), a delicious sweet pastry stuffed with marzipan... without forgetting  a “charm” which gets hidden between the layers of the galette. The cake is usually shared amongst family and friends and the lucky one who finds the charm becomes the King!

A big thank you to our French assistant Claire, who brought back some genuine fèves (charms) from France to give that extra little touch of authenticity!

(Here's the recipe if you fancy trying this one at home...)
