Flipping pancakes...

Last Friday afternoon, the S1/2 made pancakes during their RMPS/French period. The finished product was delicious even though, when it comes to flipping pancakes, techniques can vary a lot as we can judge by the pictures below...

The cautious way...

The quiet way...

The scary way!

...and the happy way!

The super-cool way...

The sporty way!

Fiddles & cellos

Last Tuesday, while the Sanday Lower Primary pupils and staff were visiting our school, all the beginner fiddles and cellos from both schools got together.
It was Elizabeth Sullivan's great idea for them to have a lesson together, which they thoroughly enjoyed.  The Sanday pupils were real troopers to bring their instruments with them as well as school bags and and swimming kits, especially those bringing their celllos!  They performed a piece entitled 'Crocodile' practising their bowing technique on different strings.  The lyrics of the song ask if the crocodile has had his tea yet since he has a reputation for eating fiddle players!

"Troot in the Shed" news...

Here’s a short video, shot a few days ago, of the ova in their tank at the Stronsay School. The eyes are clearly visible now. Everything seems to be running smoothly so far and it shouldn’t be long before hatching starts.
Last year most schools’ ova hatched between 8th February (Stromness Primary) and 17th February (Sanday J.H).
We'll keep you posted as soon as anything happens!
