"Troot in the Shed 2015"

"Troot in the Shed" has kicked off again on Wednesday and the freezer shed has new residents: about 150 brown trout eggs (called "ova") are going to be looked after by the Upper Primary pupils for the next couple of months.
To begin with, it'll be a matter of making sure the pump is working properly, removing dead ova (which turn white when they die) to avoid fungus spreading  and keeping record of temperatures and mortality. In a week or so, we should see the eyes appearing and then, by mid-February, the eggs should hatch into alevins.
We'll keep you posted regarding any further developments!

(Special thanks to Jack and his dad for delivering drums of burn water for the tank!)
