NORTH ISLES SPORTS 2019

North Isles Sports 2019

North Isles Sports 2019 was held on 15 th June 2019 in Westray. It was the 70 th anniversary as North Isles Sports started in 1948 although they skipped a year out somewhere in between. The islands that compete are Stronsay, Papay, Sanday, Westray and sometimes North Ronaldsay and Eday.
The events were 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m sprint, 1500m, high jump, long jump, shot putt, football, netball and the fun primary events that were held were 75m sprint, shot putt and standing long jump. The age groups were primary, school girls, school boys, ladies, mens and veteran. I don’t
know ALL of the results but here’s the primary events: for the standing long jump P4/5 boys, Jamie Holland came 1 st with a fab jump of 1m 65cm!!!!!! For the P4/5 girls Martha Bremner competed even though she is only in P3!!!!! She came 3 rd place with an awesome jump of 1m 22cm!!! In the
P6/7 boys Melvin Holland came second with a jump 1m 71cm missing out on 1 st place by 2cm!!! In the P6/7 girls I (Millie Dennison) came 1 st with a jump of 2m 14cm. In the 75m sprint p4/5 boys Liam Daily did a great run and came 3 rd !!!!!! In the
P4/5 girls 75m Martha Bremner competed again and came 3rd with a really speedy run. In the P6/7 boys 75m Melvin Holland competed and came 3 rd place. In the P6/7 girls Toni-Anne competed and also came 3 rd !! In the shot putt P4/5 boys Wilbur came 1 st place with an amazing putt of 4m 96cm!!! In the P4/5 girls shot putt Martha Bremner competed and got 3 rd place!! In the P6/7 boys shot putt Sam Whiteman did a fabulous throw and came 3 rd !! In the P6/7 girls Dorothy Bremner came 1 st place with a huge putt!! As there was so many achievements from the Stronsay competitors I cannot type them all, although what I can say is everyone did so well!

RSABI & Fishermen's Mission Sponsored Walk - 26/06/2019

The whole secondary will be doing a sponsored walk on the 26th of June. They will be walking around the Queen's Drive and back to the school and will then do 4 laps of the football pitch to make the distance of the walk 7 miles.
The secondary has decided to put the money to two charities. These two charities are the Fishermen's Mission and RSABI. Both of these charities support mental wellbeing in local industries.
There will be sponsor forms in both shops, the school and the pub.
