Aims and Ethos "wordle"

The students and staff of Stronsay School have studied the school's aims and key words. They then put forward the names of the students who they believe most exhibit these attributes. The larger the name on the "wordle" the more people felt this person displayed attributes which as a school we value greatly.

Practical Cake Craft

During this term Sonya, Erynn and Charlie in S3 have been practising some cake baking and decorating skills, in line with the National 5 qualification, culminating in decorating Christmas cakes for teachers. After laying a base of marzipan on each cake, the girls then covered each one with white sugar paste. Individual designs were created by each student on the cakes and the results were stunning and quite professional.

"Wirdsmit" - Amber Connolly's visit (14th December)

On Monday December 14th , Amber Connolly from the George Mackay Brown Fellowship visited our school. She came to present each of our secondary pupils with a book containing poetry they had written earlier in the year with Orkney poet, Yvonne Gray. This was part of a project called Wirdsmit which aims to promote creative writing amongst young people throughout the Orkney Islands.
We have some extra  copies of "Spring Wark" available for £5, if you need a last minute stocking filler for proud grandparents. Please ask your son or daughter to contact Ms Deavin.

Support Our School - Bag printing

Members of the SOS ( Support Our School) Committee have produced 'Peedie Shopping Bags'. Pupils at Stronsay Junior High School designed them and Steve Weaver our janitor, made a block print of the school's ethos,'Proud to Belong, Proud to be a Limpet'
We hope to produce bags for different occasions throughout the coming year. Thank you and well done everyone for your hard work.
Orders for the bags can be placed with Sarah Evans or Gaynor Smith. Bags are £3 each.
